CHIME (Community Help In Music Education)

CHIME provides and advocates for music education for DC schoolchildren, particularly those in Title I schools. We provide participatory performances, ongoing instrumental and choral instruction, distribution of donated instruments, joint music projects between schools with different demographics, and teacher workshops. We advocate for all children to have accessible (geographic and financial) opportunities to learn to perform in instrumental or choral groups — inspired by Venezuela's el sistema model, now spreading around the world.
